Fushigi Yuugi OVA 1
The Fushigi Yuugi first OVA followed the widely popular TV series. It is had a brand new story that is not based on the original Fushigi Yuugi manga story by Watase-sensei. The purpose of this OVA was to set the stage for the OVA 2, which would continue the original manga.
The OVA consist of three 25 minute episodes, and was produced by Studio Pierrot and released by Bandai Visual on laserdisc on October 25, 1996. The screenplay was written by Yoshimura Genki and it was directed by Kamegaki Hajime.
The Plot
A year after the events of the TV series, Miaka, Tamahome, Keisuke and Tetsuya decide to visit the graves of Suzuno and Takiko, the priestesses of Byakko and Genbu. In front of Takiko's grave, Tamahome hears a cry from help from the priestess and is sucked right back into the book. Miaka, Yui and the guys must figure out what is disturbing the world inside Universe of the Four Gods and and rescue Tamahome.
The Omake
At the end of each episode there is a very cute omake (bonus mini-episode) story, based on chapter 43 of the manga, which wasn't previously shown on the TV series.
